Block, Inc. is pursuing the Bitcoin Platform Trading initiative, building scalable systems to serve CashApp users and Square Sellers, handling billions in quarterly transactions. You will design and operate backend services with a decentralized, collaborative approach across the U.S. and Australia.

The role emphasizes leadership, architectural vision, and delivering reliable software while advancing digital asset capabilities within a diverse, inclusive team.

Qualifications

• Proven expertise in distributed system architecture and digital asset domains.
• Experience across all SDLC phases with a delivery-focused mindset.
• Strong backend experience at scale using modern eventing, DB and infra tools.
• Proven ability to mentor teams and influence strategy.
• Programming proficiency in Kotlin, Go, Java, and Typescript.

Responsibilities

• Deliver scalable, high-impact technical solutions for digital asset transactions.
• Lead resolution of complex technical problems and shape system architecture.
• Define long-term technical vision and roadmaps aligned with business goals.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders to ensure engineering decisions support strategy.
• Mentor team members and maintain high developer experience and standards.
• Maintain system reliability with on-call responsibility and observability (Datadog).
• Foster a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and collaboration.
