Pump.co in San Francisco is hiring a Backend Engineer to join a fast-paced, early-stage team. You will design, build, and scale backend services powering our cloud-cost optimization platform and work across the stack with engineers, designers, and founders.

The role emphasizes growth within a strong engineering culture, direct impact on real customers, and collaboration across functions. This is a non-remote, in-office position with competitive compensation and equity.

Qualifications

• 3–15 years of professional backend engineering experience.
• Ability to work 5 days a week in office.
• Proficiency in Python and familiarity with FastAPI or similar frameworks.
• Experience with SQL databases — we use PostgreSQL.
• Comfort working in a cloud environment (AWS preferred).
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Thrives in fast-moving, early-stage startup environments.
• Clear communication and collaborative instincts.

About the Role

As a Backend Engineer , you’ll contribute directly to the core of our product and infrastructure. This role is ideal for someone looking to grow within a strong engineering team while delivering meaningful work that touches real customers.

You’ll collaborate closely with engineers, designers, and founders—working across the stack to build, improve, and scale our platform.

We are 5 days a week in office. No remote work will be considered.

Minimum Requirements and Pay

US Citizen/Visa Only - no sponsorships available

Minimum 3 years of experience

Base salary USD 120,000-200,000 per year

Eligible for our highly valuable equity

Compensation

$120,000—$200,000 USD
