Job summary

Affirm’s Streaming team is responsible for data strategy, event-driven architecture, stream processing, data exploration, discovery and validation. We leverage Kafka, Flink, and Schema Registry, building our own components as needed.

You will identify and execute new data infra use cases, design and scale infrastructure, and collaborate with other teams for optimal data use. The role emphasizes collaboration with product, design and analytics, delivering tasks in phases, and contributing to

Qualifications

• 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Proficient in Python or Kotlin and backend design.
• Experience with distributed systems and AWS, Kafka, Flink, Kubernetes.
• Ability to translate problems into multi-component solutions with clear code.

Responsibilities

• Break down projects into tasks, deliver in phases and ensure timely delivery.
• Collaborate with product, design & analytics to balance risks and trade-offs.
• Support ops by creating/monitoring metrics and on-call activities.
• Contribute to team growth through interview participation.
