Job summary

Affirm is a remote-first company that focuses on simple, transparent pay-over-time solutions. The Streaming team drives data infrastructure, event driven architecture, and data validation. The role emphasizes building scalable backend systems with Python or Kotlin and collaborating across product, design and analytics.

You will work with AWS, Kafka, Flink and Kubernetes, own tasks from planning to delivery, and contribute to the team’s on-call and growth initiatives.

Qualifications

1.5+ years of software engineering experience.
Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems.
Proficient in Python or Kotlin.
Familiar with AWS, Kafka, Flink and Kubernetes.
Ability to work across multiple components and write clear, tested, extensible code.
Good at debugging large codebases and giving feedback via code reviews.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

Break down larger projects into tasks and deliver in phases.
Collaborate with product, design & analytics during ideation and decisions.
Support operations, metrics, and on-call efforts.
Contribute to team growth and participate in interviews.
