Job summary

Affirm, Inc. is seeking a hands-on mid‑engineering contributor in Information Security to build and maintain backend services powering registration, login, and account lifecycles for B2C and B2B experiences.

You’ll work with Python or Kotlin and modern identity tech to deliver secure, scalable features. You’ll collaborate with engineering and product partners, participate in code reviews, and drive reliable services with strong security fundamentals.

Qualifications

• Experience writing and testing software in Python or Kotlin.
• Solid understanding of backend development, APIs, data structures, databases.
• Interest in authentication and CIAM platforms.
• Strong problem-solving and collaborative skills.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship customer-facing authentication features—from smoother login experiences to MFA, step-up authentication, and device binding.
• Develop backend services and APIs in Python or Kotlin, turning product requirements into working software.
• Work with identity technologies like Okta, Auth0, ForgeRock, writing integrations that connect identity to apps.
• Take features through the SDLC: design, write tests, review code, and deploy to production with team support.
• Debug services to improve reliability using logs and metrics to observe production behavior.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and security teams to grow security-focused software engineering skills.
