Job summary

Wilen is seeking a Database Administrator to support Microsoft SQL Server and Azure environments, ensuring reliability, performance, and security across production and non-production databases.

The role is junior-level but requires hands-on experience with SQL Server, Azure, backups, and disaster recovery. You will work with development teams to optimize queries and maintain robust security controls.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of hands-on experience administering Microsoft SQL Server environments.
• Practical experience supporting production databases in Microsoft Azure.
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server administration, configuration, monitoring, backup/recovery, and performance tuning.
• Experience with T-SQL and troubleshooting database queries and stored procedures.
• Understanding of database indexing, execution plans, locking, blocking, and performance optimization.

Responsibilities

• Administer, monitor, maintain, and support Microsoft SQL Server databases in production and non-production environments.
• Support Azure-hosted database environments, including Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server running in Azure.
• Monitor database health, availability, capacity, storage, and performance.
• Troubleshoot database performance issues, blocking, deadlocks, long-running queries, failed jobs, and other production issues.
• Perform database installations, configuration, upgrades, patching, and maintenance.
• Develop and maintain database backup, restore, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
