Job summary

MMD Services, Inc. is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to own hands-on data architecture across Azure, Synapse, Data Factory, and Fabric, partnering with executives on AI initiatives.

You will translate KPI requirements into actionable user stories, prototype data solutions, mentor engineers, and guide architectural decisions to scale pipelines and drive performance. Hybrid role based in Downers Grove, IL with a focus on collaboration with cross-functional teams and delivering impactful data

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in data architecture or lead data engineering roles.
• Strong Azure stack experience, including Synapse and Data Factory.
• Microsoft Fabric experience is required.
• Proficient Python and SQL skills; PySpark a plus.
• Excellent communication to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience guiding and mentoring junior and mid-level engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect data solutions across the Microsoft Azure stack with hands-on build responsibility.
• Build prototypes and proofs of concept to validate architecture decisions.
• Translate executive KPIs into actionable technical user stories for the team.
• Provide technical direction by mentoring a team supplied by an external vendor.
• Act as primary technical liaison between developers and executive stakeholders.
• Own architecture decisions for Synapse and Data Factory pipelines with focus on scalability and performance.
• Contribute to the AI roadmap through POCs, Copilot rollout, and agentic AI initiatives.
• Present technical strategy and progress updates to non-technical executives.
