Job summary

Core BTS in Herndon, VA seeks a Cloud Engineer to join the Cloud Engineering Team within IT Systems Infrastructure. You will design, implement, and optimize cloud, on‑prem, and hybrid infrastructure, migrating services to cloud and delivering highly available IT services.

The role emphasizes collaboration across IT and business units, with focus on Azure-based solutions, security, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field; equivalent hands-on experience accepted
• Minimum 5 years experience in systems infrastructure planning, security, and IT service management best practices
• Minimum 3 years designing, implementing, and supporting cloud systems on Microsoft Azure
• Experience with hybrid cloud architectures and Azure integration
• Knowledge of VMware virtualization
• Experience installing and maintaining Windows Server environments
• Strong identity management knowledge (MFA, RBAC, conditional access)
• Excellent organizational and project management skills
• Strong communication for technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to work with IT, Security, Networking, vendors, and stakeholders
• Willingness to work M-F 8-4:30 and on-call rotations

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with IT and business units to ensure cloud systems reliability and scalability
• Design, implement, and document IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS on Azure
• Develop plans, milestones, risk assessments, and requirements for projects
• Evaluate and select cloud solutions to support development and procurement
• Acquire licenses per procurement processes
• Deploy new apps and enhancements across software and OS
• Use Continual Service Improvement to optimize cloud systems
• Manage hybrid identity services across Azure and on-prem
• Oversee backup, recovery, and DR planning
• Produce automated reports and dashboards for monitoring
• Provide technical leadership across the organization
• Communicate project progress and risks clearly
• Monitor cloud spend and control costs
• Adhere to asset management and security policies
• Follow SLAs and change management processes
• Comply with client policies including BSA regulations
