Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking a Core Cloud Engineer to design, deploy, and manage Azure cloud infrastructure using Terraform and CI/CD pipelines. You will apply security, resiliency, and governance patterns while collaborating with agile teams to deliver scalable cloud solutions across the enterprise.

The role emphasizes automation, infrastructure as code, and close coordination with leadership to ensure a cohesive end‑to‑end architecture within FirstEnergy’s environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS or related field.
• Experience configuring, deploying, and automating Azure cloud environments.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• DevOps automation including CI/CD processes.
• Infrastructure as code (ARM, Terraform, Puppet, Ansible, Chef).
• Understanding of standard networking protocols and load balancing.
• Willingness to travel and work extended hours.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and support Azure cloud infrastructure using infrastructure‑as‑code with Terraform.
• Build, maintain, and support CI/CD pipelines to automate provisioning, deployment, and configuration of cloud resources.
• Apply cloud security, networking, resiliency, and governance patterns to deliver well‑managed environments.
• Collaborate within Agile teams to deliver cloud solutions aligned to business needs.
• Develop Terraform modules and pipelines to automate deployment of resources and configurations.
• Design and implement data protection, including HA and BCP in Azure.
