AY25-26 Graduate Assistant - Assistant to Math Services

The Graduate Assistant (GA) will work 20 hours per week and receive up to 24 credits of tuition and student fee waivers: 9 for fall, 9 for spring, and 6 for summer.

Department Summary

The Academic Achievement Center (AAC) is the largest hub of student academic support services at Bridgewater State University. It provides Academic Advising, Learning Assistance support, Student Accessibility Services, and Testing Services. The AAC includes areas like Academic Coaching, Accounting and Finance Lab, Math Services, Tutoring Central, Tutoring for Multilingual Students, and the Writing Studio, all dedicated to student success, retention, equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Administrative Duties

• Assist with supervising staff of undergraduate math tutors in Math Services.
• Create and maintain employee files.
• Organize tutor classroom visit schedules each semester.
• Revise (with Director) and distribute PR materials.
• Maintain and develop website materials (with Director).

Facilitating Hiring Process

• Assist the Director in interviews and orientation of new hires.
• Help math coaches identify and schedule tutoring spaces.
• Coordinate Math Services meetings and review sessions.
• Promote accessibility, inclusivity, anti-racism, disability rights, and advocacy within the AAC and university community.
• Participate in staff meetings, supervision, trainings, and seek additional training on cultural competence, equity, and inclusion.
• Collaborate with supervisor on research projects for the Spring Research Symposium.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
• Curate weekly reports via Accudemia and distribute to faculty and tutors.

Program Assessment Duties

• Assist in developing and implementing assessment plans for Math Services.
• Monitor traffic patterns and assess coverage needs.
• Analyze assessment data and assist in planning improvements.
