Job summary

Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County is seeking a technician to inspect, repair and maintain the axle counter system and related signaling equipment. You will use specialized tools, perform calibration support, and document maintenance data to support revenue operations.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and at least two years of rail/track maintenance experience. A Texas Class C driver's license and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum two years’ experience in inspection and general maintenance; rail/track maintenance preferred.
Must have Texas Class C driver's license and meet Metr o’s motor vehicle record requirements.
Good communication skills (verbal/written) are essential.

Responsibilities

Inspect, repair and maintain the axle counter system using specialized tools.
Inspect axle counter head adjustments and mounting brackets.
Inspect and clean rail boot annulus and embedded track drains.
Inspect mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment such as grade crossing mechanisms, switch machines, and relays.
Record maintenance and diagnostic data and provide on-call coverage for emergencies.
