Job summary

Spectraforce Technologies is seeking a highly technical AWS FinOps Engineer to optimize, automate, and scale cloud financial operations. This 6-month hybrid role sits across engineering, finance, and data to build tooling, pipelines, and insights that improve cost efficiency.

You will design cost monitoring and allocation solutions, ingest billing data, develop dashboards in AWS QuickSight, and implement best practices for cost governance and forecasting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field required.
• 3–6+ years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, FinOps, or related technical role.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, Cost Explorer, CUR).
• Proven experience building dashboards and visualizations using AWS QuickSight.
• Experience with AWS CUR and billing data sets.
• Proficiency in Python or Java; strong SQL skills with large datasets.
• Experience building ETL/data pipelines and data lakes/warehouses.
• Understanding of cloud cost drivers and optimization techniques.
• Familiarity with Terraform or CloudFormation.

Responsibilities

Overview

We are looking for a highly technical FinOps Engineer to help optimize, automate, and scale cloud financial operations. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, finance, and data, and is responsible for building tooling, pipelines, and insights that drive cost efficiency and accountability across our cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable solutions for cloud cost monitoring, allocation, and optimization
• Develop automated pipelines to ingest, transform, and analyze cloud billing and usage data
• Create and maintain dashboards and reporting solutions using AWS QuickSight to provide actionable cost insights

Required Skills

• Experience building ETL/data pipelines and working with data lakes or warehouses
• Understanding of cloud cost drivers and optimization techniques
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work cross-functionally

Preferred

• FinOps Certified Practitioner or other FinOps-related certification
• Experience with multi-cloud environments (Azure, GCP)
• Familiarity with third-party cost management tools (e.g., CloudHealth, Apptio, Kubecost)
• Experience implementing cost anomaly detection or alerting systems
• Knowledge of containerized environments (e.g., Kubernetes, ECS) and their cost implications
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks
• Background in financial modeling or cloud budgeting/forecasting
