Job summary

GuideWell is modernizing its cloud network, designing a robust hybrid connectivity stack across AWS and on-prem/colocation. The Cloud Network Engineer will own the cloud network foundation, multi-region DR, and mesh with transit services while supporting cutovers and ongoing network operations.

Key responsibilities include designing VPCs, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, Route 53, and security policies, with Terraform delivering configuration as code.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of networking experience
• 4+ years managing hybrid cloud/on-premises networks
• Bachelor's degree required
• Strong routing fundamentals including BGP
• Hands-on AWS/Azure networking
• Firewall and network security policy experience
• Experience supporting production cutovers under change control
• Troubleshooting across TCP/IP, DNS, load balancers, and routing
• Colocation and carrier circuit experience

Responsibilities

• Design and operate VPC architecture across a multi-account AWS environment
• Build and run the transit layer using Transit Gateway or Cloud WAN
• Design and operate hybrid connectivity including Direct Connect and VPN
• Build and operate connectivity between AWS partitions and secondary clouds
• Own cloud DNS including Route 53 and hybrid name resolution
• Support trading partner and vendor connectivity (EDI)
• Implement network segmentation with security policy
• Configure and operate cloud firewalls, inspection paths, and load balancing
• Design multi-region DR network model and validate failover
• Manage colocation and carrier connectivity including diversity
• Plan and execute network cutovers during migration waves
• Deliver network configurations via Terraform
• Build network monitoring and telemetry for security operations
• Maintain topology documentation and act as escalation for network incidents
