We are seeking a motivated and experienced Principal AWS Cloud Engineer to join MANTECH’s dynamic cloud engineering team in Chantilly, VA. This role serves as the primary AWS technical authority, responsible for designing, deploying, and managing the enterprise AWS environment with a strong emphasis on security monitoring and threat detection. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of cloud security architectures, automation, and multi-cloud integration, supporting the organization’s mission to maintain a secure, scalable, and efficient cloud infrastructure. As a key member of our team, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to align AWS security practices with secondary cloud platforms such as Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), ensuring comprehensive cloud security and compliance across all environments.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years of experience in cloud computing or engineering, with a strong background in AWS environments. A bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience (additional 4+ years in IT/engineering) is required. Candidates must hold an active DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II certification, such as Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CySA+, SSCP, or GSEC, or be able to obtain one within 30 days of hire. Proficiency in designing, building, and securing enterprise AWS environments utilizing services such as EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, Route53, RDS, CloudFront, and Lambda is essential. Hands‑on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation, along with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell, is also required. Candidates should demonstrate expertise in multi‑account governance, Zero Trust security architectures, and automated cloud security monitoring pipelines.
