Job summary

MANTECH is seeking a Senior Principal Cyber Security Engineer to join their team in Chantilly, VA. You will design, deploy, and maintain secure data collection and monitoring solutions to support mission-critical cybersecurity operations.

This senior role requires leadership across teams and adherence to federal security standards. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years in cybersecurity, strong Splunk experience, Linux administration, and DoD 8570.1 IAT II certification or the ability to obtain

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; candidates with four or more years of additional cybersecurity experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in cybersecurity roles, with strong knowledge of SIEM platforms such as Splunk.
• Must hold or obtain DoD Directive 8570.1 IAT Level II or higher certification within six months of hire.
• Strong knowledge of Linux system administration, TCP/IP networking, and operating system security practices.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot data collection issues to ensure accurate ingestion of security-relevant data.
• Diagnose and resolve system issues impacting stability and performance.
• Deploy, manage, and maintain Splunk Add-ons for data sources to ensure data integrity.
• Develop and maintain documentation, including security plans and accreditation materials.
• Create Splunk deployment documentation covering specifications and architecture for production.

• Create detailed Splunk deployment documentation, covering specifications, deployment methodologies, and architectural considerations for production environments.
• Implement and enforce strict role-based access controls to safeguard data and ensure access is granted on a validated need-to-know basis.
• Design and deploy Splunk forwarders utilizing centralized configuration management via the Splunk Deployment Server to support rapid and consistent deployments across environments.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance security monitoring capabilities and improve overall cybersecurity posture.
• Stay updated on emerging cybersecurity threats, best practices, and technological advancements to continuously improve security solutions.
