Job summary

The Hartford is seeking an AVP, Supplemental Health Product Management to set the strategy, value proposition, and end-to-end experience for the Supplemental Health portfolio, including Accident, Critical Illness, and Hospital Indemnity.

Based in the Employee Benefits area, you will lead a four-person product team and partner across actuarial, underwriting, finance, and distribution to drive growth and competitive differentiation.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in Employee Benefits or insurance with Supplemental Health strategy.
• Proven strategic product leadership driving growth, innovation, and customer outcomes.
• Deep knowledge of pricing, underwriting, enrollment, service, regulatory filing, go-to-market.
• Lead through influence in a matrixed organization with cross-functional alignment.
• Experience taking products from development to market launch.
• Financial acumen with actuarial, finance, pricing, and underwriting partners.
• Executive communication and stakeholder management credibility.
• Experience leading growth, transformation, or operating model change in a carrier.
• Understanding of voluntary benefits distribution, enrollment ecosystems, broker needs, competition.
• Knowledge of state filing requirements and regulatory frameworks for Supplemental Health.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; willingness to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Sets Supplemental Health Strategy across Accident, Critical Illness, and Hospital Indemnity.
• Owns product roadmap and multi-year growth plans to stay relevant and competitive.
• Leads product development from concept through filing, implementation, and market launch.
• Collaborates with claims, technology, and operations to improve customer experience.
• Represents portfolio with distribution partners, employers, consultants, and associations.
• Leads cross-functional community of practice and aligns priorities.
• Ensures regulatory compliance with federal and state regulations; partners with Legal and Compliance.
• Develops and coaches a high-performing team of four product professionals.
