Job summary

Sompo America Inc. seeks an AVP, Accident & Health Reinsurance Underwriter to lead underwriting and client engagements for the North America A&H team. The role prioritizes broker relationships, portfolio growth, and risk assessment across quota share and excess of loss structures.

The candidate should bring 5–7 years of A&H underwriting experience, strong communication, and the ability to travel as needed to maintain relationships and drive business.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of A&H related underwriting experience (Broker Market/Direct and Primary).
• Proven proficiency in specialty underwriting and risk analysis.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and client management skills.
• Industry designations like ARe and/or CPCU preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build and manage broker relationships to drive premium growth.
• Underwrite A&H treaty/portfolio within authority and guidelines.
• Engage in on-site visits, conferences, and client meetings.
• Perform risk analysis using internal models and market data.
• Contribute to special projects aligned with business goals.
