Job summary

University of Delaware in Newark, DE seeks an Assistant Vice President for Administration, Student Life to lead divisional administrative strategy and resources across multiple units.

Reporting to the Vice President for Student Life, the AVP will shape financial planning, workforce planning, and shared services, ensuring effective systems and accountability while partnering with campus stakeholders to advance priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus eight years of progressive administrative experience in higher education.
• Experience in Student Affairs or higher education administration preferred.
• Knowledge of university governance, accreditation, and regulatory environments preferred.
• Demonstrated experience leading large, complex organizational functions with broad operational and financial responsibility.
• Strong executive-level communication, decision-making, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead divisional administrative strategy aligning VPSL priorities with financial, space, human capital, and operational resources.
• Direct long-range administrative planning to strengthen operations through sustainable financial models and staffing structures.
• steward relationships with Finance, HR, Facilities Services, Campus Planning, IT to support divisional strategy.
• Partner with divisional leaders to align administrative frameworks with portfolios’ needs.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting/finance, public administration, Student Affairs or related field, and eight years of progressively responsible administrative experience, preferably in higher education, including direct managerial, supervisory, and leadership sagacity. Master’s degree preferred.
