Nationwide in Columbus, OH is seeking an AVP, Software Engineer – Artificial Intelligence to provide executive oversight for an enterprise portfolio of AI platforms, models, and tooling. You’ll guide strategy, production readiness, and adoption, while coordinating budgets and vendor strategies.

The role demands ten years of leadership in software/AI platforms, strong governance, security and risk controls, and the ability to shape a high-trust, inclusive engineering culture across a matrix

Qualifications

• Ten years of progressive technology leadership across software/platform engineering, cloud, or related disciplines.
• Experience leading enterprise-scale platforms or shared services and setting product strategy.
• Knowledge of security, privacy, risk, compliance, and architecture controls.

Responsibilities

• Defines strategy, operating model, product discipline, and multi-year roadmap for AI Platform Engineering in alignment with enterprise priorities.
• Leads adoption of reusable AI capabilities, model/tool catalogs, and platform services with measurable outcomes.
• Owns budgeting, forecasting, workforce planning, vendor spend, and accountable for portfolio health and outcomes.
• Builds an inclusive, high-trust organization across product, engineering, architecture, security, and operations.
