Job summary

Citi is seeking an experienced Java Backend Development Lead to spearhead design, development, and deployment of AI-powered platforms. You will lead a team, architect scalable backend systems, and collaborate with data scientists to deploy ML models in production.

The role requires hands-on leadership in Java, Spring Boot, and microservices, with strong expertise in APIs, data pipelines, and secure, reliable architectures. Hybrid work model in Irving, TX.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of backend software development experience.
• 3+ years in technical leadership role.
• Extensive experience with Spring Framework and Spring Boot.
• Strong knowledge of microservices, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• RESTful APIs and event-driven systems design.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with message brokers (Kafka or RabbitMQ).

Responsibilities

• Lead a backend engineering team in an Agile environment.
• Architect scalable, secure backend services and APIs.
• Integrate AI/ML models with production systems.
• Oversee full software development lifecycle from design to deployment.
• Ensure code quality with unit/integration tests and CI/CD.
• Collaborate with product managers to define technical requirements.
• Stay current with AI/backend trends and prototype new ideas.
