Job summary

National Life Group in Montpelier, VT seeks an AVP of Investment Accounting to lead GAAP and statutory reporting across all asset classes, including private credit and alternative investments. You will build and scale a next-generation accounting function, partnering with auditors and business lines.

The role focuses on delivering timely financial reporting, governance, and leveraging advanced technology to improve processes and regulatory documentation.

Qualifications

• 14+ years of investment accounting and financial reporting experience.
• CPA (preferred).
• Solid experience with US GAAP and Statutory Accounting for investment products in insurance.
• Ability to meet daily/monthly/quarterly/annual deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Oversee GAAP and statutory accounting for all asset classes in the consolidated investment portfolio.
• Ensure accurate month-end, quarter-end and annual reporting of investment balances.
• Build and maintain external relationships with auditors, vendors and partners.
• Collaborate with financial reporting, tax, treasury and investment operations to meet needs.
• Develop key indicators, metrics and analytic reports; communicate with leaders.
• Stay informed on regulatory developments related to investment accounting.
• Manage a team of investment accounting professionals; monitor goals and communication.
• Leverage generative AI tools to enhance reporting, audit support, and regulatory documentation processes.
