Job summary

Munich Re Specialty - North America is seeking an AVP level E&S Casualty Underwriter to lead underwriting, market and bind a profitable excess and surplus book in Chicago. You will collaborate with leadership to drive growth, while maintaining broker relationships and delivering innovative specialty insurance solutions.

Ideal candidates have strong underwriting, marketing and analytical skills, CPCU or equivalent, and are comfortable traveling up to 30% to meet clients and broker partners.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in insurance/reinsurance focusing on E&S casualty
• Excellent underwriting, marketing and analytical skills
• Advanced insurance certifications (e.g. CPCU) preferred
• Advanced knowledge of Commercial P&C / E&S products and UW processes
• Proficiency with pricing models and risk evaluation tools
• Strong relationships with wholesale brokers
• Tech savviness and willingness to learn new technologies
• Strategic thinker with tactical execution
• Excellent communication to engage brokers and clients
• Ability to present and negotiate complex broker agreements
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Willingness to travel 20%-30%

Responsibilities

• Underwrite, market, quote, bind and retain a profitable E&S book within authority.
• Develop and execute production strategies to meet growth and rate goals.
• Measure portfolio progress by analyzing underwriting data and market practices.
• Cultivate and maintain professional wholesale broker relationships.
• Represent Munich Re at client events and meetings.
• Support day-to-day operations and projects with cross-group impact.
