Job summary

Munich Re Specialty - North America is seeking an experienced E&S Casualty Underwriter to produce, underwrite, and retain a profitable E&S casualty book via strong broker relationships. The role emphasizes market-driven growth, data-driven decision making, and collaboration across Munich Re units.

You will develop production strategies, advise on pricing and risk, and travel as required to meet clients and brokers, with a NYC-based salary range reflective of market conditions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in insurance/reinsurance focusing on E&S casualty.
• Excellent underwriting, marketing and analytical skills.
• CPCU or advanced insurance certifications preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Commercial P&C / E&S products, UW processes, laws and regulations.
• Proficiency with pricing models and risk evaluation tools.
• Proven ability to develop and maintain wholesale broker relationships.
• Tech-savvy with willingness to adopt new technologies.
• Ability to think strategically while acting tactically.
• Excellent communication to engage brokers and clients.
• Strong negotiation and presentation skills.
• Excellent time management.
• Willingness to travel 20%-30%.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite, market, quote, bind and retain a profitable book of E&S casualty business.
• Develop and execute production strategies to maximize growth objectives and rate goals.
• Measure and optimize portfolio progress by reviewing underwriting data and industry practices.
• Cultivate and maintain wholesale broker relationships.
• Represent the Munich Re brand at client events and meetings.
• Assist in day-to-day operations and projects with potential impact.
