Job summary

Nationwide is seeking an Associate Vice President, Contingent Liability Legal for P&C to lead enterprise-wide litigation risk oversight. You will guide strategy on bad-faith, extra-contractual, and coverage disputes while aligning with business objectives and risk appetite.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Experience managing contingent-liability litigation in P&C insurance is preferred.
• Strong leadership, advisory, and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive oversight of the contingent-liability portfolio and major litigation strategies.
• Manage outside counsel, budgets, and litigation plans across teams.
• Develop governance standards and risk-mitigation frameworks for enterprise-wide exposure.
• Lead and mentor a team of counsels and legal professionals.
