Job summary

Verizon seeks an Associate Vice President to own the run layer of our national 5G and cloud-native network. You will lead the automation platform, drive AI/ML optimization, and push toward TM Forum Level 4 autonomy across Plan, Build, and Run. This is a builder’s role at scale, with a hybrid work model.

You will grow a distributed engineering organization, align with industry standards, and partner with partners to advance autonomous networks while ensuring security and resilience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field or four+ years of equivalent work experience.
• Ten or more years in large-scale network or software engineering, including five+ years leading distributed, cross-functional teams.
• Proven delivery of CNF/VNF, NFV, or SDN at carrier or hyperscale.
• Hands-on depth in network automation, orchestration, and closed-loop assurance.
• Experience applying AI/ML to infrastructure — anomaly detection, energy optimization, or autonomous operations.
• Working knowledge of 5G Core, virtualized and O-RAN, edge, and multi-cloud or on-prem AI infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Tie automation to customer experience and close-loop operations.
• Own the execution of intent with policy-governed changes on live network.
• Automate the virtualized network across multi-vendor, cloud-native environment.
• Lead AI/ML-driven optimization of compute, energy, and resources.
• Run orchestration, closed-loop assurance, and on-prem AI inference platform at scale.
• Define agentic operating model, policy-as-code guardrails, and safety standards.
• Grow and lead a distributed engineering organization.
