Job summary

Verizon is seeking an Associate Vice President to own the run layer of the national 5G network, driving automation and AI to achieve self-optimizing, cloud-native infrastructure. You will lead a distributed engineering organization across cloud-native platforms, SRE, MLOps, and network automation.

This hybrid role requires collaboration with TM Forum, O-RAN, and hyperscaler partners, with a focus on zero-touch lifecycle, policy-driven changes, and safe-autonomy standards across domains.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, CS, or related field, or 4+ years of equivalent work experience.
• 10+ years in large-scale network or software engineering, with 5+ years in distributed leadership.
• Experience delivering CNF/VNF, NFV, or SDN at carrier/hyperscale.
• Hands-on depth in network automation, orchestration, and closed-loop assurance.
• Experience applying AI/ML to infrastructure, anomaly detection, or energy optimization.

Responsibilities

• Own the run layer automation across a national, multi-vendor 5G footprint.
• Lead the engineering organization and the automation platform at scale.
• Drive autonomy toward Level 4 with measurable metrics (MTTR, uptime, energy savings).
• Represent Verizon with industry bodies and partner ecosystems.
