As an Avionics TechnicianIV, you will supervise avionics maintenance teams and oversee the most complex diagnostics and repairs, ensuring all work meets the highest standards of safety and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Supervise installation, testing, and repair of avionics systems.
- Oversee complex diagnostics and troubleshooting tasks.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are documented and compliant with regulations.
- Conduct advanced training sessions for avionics staff.
- Develop and implement maintenance procedures.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure efficient operations.
- Maintain high standards of safety and work quality.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
- Expertise in avionics systems and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to understand and interpret moderately complex, technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and/or publications; ability to route wires per technical drawings.
- Advanced skills with moderately complex avionics installation tooling, wiring, soldering and crimping techniques.
- Ability to deploy for extended periods to various CONUS and OCONUS locations.
- Pass a pre‑deployment medical assessment; willing to work extended hours, holidays, and shift schedules as required.
- Current/valid passport and ability to obtain a visa for international travel.
- Willing to undertake TDY for extensive time; willing to deploy OCONUS on approx. 60/60 rotation.
- Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Avionics, Electronics, or related field.
- Leadership experience in a maintenance environment.
- Advanced problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
- Familiarity with FCC and FCC General Radio Operator License (GROL).
- Ability to mentor and guide subordinates.
- Basic understanding of spectrometer, oscilloscopes, and/or pitot static equipment.
- Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, Department of Defense, or U.S. Military.
Essential Functions
- Lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Stand and walk for extended periods during the work shift.
- Hand and finger dexterity for small mechanical components and tools.
- Work in a noisy environment with potential exposure to hazardous materials.
- Frequent travel to customer locations, sometimes on short notice.
- Work in a combination of office and field environments.
- Read detailed technical manuals, schematics, and computer screens.
- Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems accurately.
- Hear and understand spoken communication in noisy environments.
- Detect auditory signals from machinery indicating issues.
- Navigate various work environments, including climbing ladders, crawling in confined spaces, and working at heights.
- Drive or operate a vehicle for frequent travel to customer locations.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks.
- Follow detailed instructions and adhere to safety protocols.
- Strong awareness of safety protocols; mitigate potential safety hazards.
