Job summary

Sierra Nevada Corporation is looking for an Avionics Technician II in Hagerstown, Maryland. In this role, you will independently install, test, troubleshoot, and repair avionics systems while ensuring compliance with regulations.

Overview

As an Avionics Technician II you will independently install, test, troubleshoot and repair avionics systems, ensuring compliance with regulations and maintaining detailed records.

Responsibilities
  • Perform installation and maintenance of avionics equipment independently.
  • Trub troubleshoot and repair avionics systems.
  • Conduct detailed testing of avionics components.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with FCC, FAA, and company regulations.
  • Assist in training junior technicians.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and manuals in good condition.
Qualifications – Must Have
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ years of relevant experience or higher level degree substituting for experience.
  • Proficiency in electronic principles and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to understand applicable technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals and/or publications; routing wires per technical drawings.
  • Basic skills with avionics installation tooling, wiring, wiring repair and wiring installation.
  • Experience with soldering and crimping techniques.
  • Must have own tools in good working order.
Qualifications – Prefer
  • Associate’s degree in Avionics, Electronics or a related field.
  • Advanced soldering skills and knowledge of electronic test equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret advanced technical manuals and schematics.
  • Familiarity with FCC and FCC General Radio Operator License (GROL).
  • Basic understanding of spectrometer, oscilloscope and/or pitot static equipment.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, U.S. Department of Defense or U.S. Military.
Essential Functions
  • Lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods during the work shift.
  • Work with small mechanical components and tools; hand and finger dexterity.
  • Operate in noisy environments with potential exposure to hazardous materials.
  • Travel frequently to customer locations, sometimes on short notice.
  • Work in a combination of office and field environments.
  • Read detailed technical manuals, schematics and computer screens.
  • Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems accurately.
  • Hear and understand spoken communication in noisy environments.
  • Navigate various work environments, including climbing ladders, crawling in confined spaces and working at heights.
  • Drive or operate a vehicle for frequent travel.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Follow detailed instructions and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Strong awareness of safety protocols and ability to mitigate potential hazards.
Benefits & Salary

Estimated starting salary range: $26.39 - $36.29 per hour. Compensation varies based on skills, experience and education. Benefits include medical, dental and vision plans; 401(k) with 150% match up to 6%; life insurance; 3 weeks paid time off; tuition reimbursement and more.
