Job summary

Mavensoft Technologies, LLC seeks an Avionics Technician II to support Engineering/Production in Kent, WA. This onsite role focuses on test, checkout, modification, fabrication and assembly of electro/mechanical systems for spaceflight programs.

The technician will follow schematics and plans, perform fault isolation, assist in method selection for repairs, and work on laboratory, manufacturing floor, or vehicle hardware as needed, in a safety-focused team.

Qualifications

  • ESD/ EPA compliance experience.
  • Proficient with standard electronics assembly tools.
  • Soldering and basic test equipment experience.
  • Ability to wrench and torque fasteners.
  • Experience with wire harness fabrication/repair.
  • 3+ years in aerospace avionics or related fields.
  • Attention to detail and safety culture.

Responsibilities

  • Build components and assemblies for development, test and flight environments.
  • Assist with assembly of new/updated designs with engineering input.
  • Provide manufacturing improvement input and build changes.
  • Support internal and external customers across multiple systems.

Job description

Title: Avionics Technician II

Work location: Onsite in Kent, WA

Duration: 6 months - W2 Contract

Shift: Fri-Sun 5:00AM-5:30PM

Candidate location: Local to Kent, WA

Position Summary
  • TheAvionics Technician IIwill provide hands-on support to Engineering/Production/Manufacturing by performing activities such as test, check-out, modification, fabrication, and assembly of electro/mechanical systems.
  • Applications may include electronic circuits, power distribution, life/vehicle critical safety systems and battery systems.
  • Work is performed from schematics, diagrams, written descriptions, layouts, or defined plans to perform testing, checkout, and trouble-shooting functions.
  • Perform operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment.
  • Assist in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions.
  • Perform work in both Laboratory setting as well as work on manufacturing floor or on vehicle depending on manufacturing needs.
Responsibilities
  • Building different components and assemblies for all groups in all different environments (development, test and flight).
  • Assisting with assembly of new and updated designs by working directly with engineering to determine best practices for assembly.
  • Giving regular input on manufacturing improvement opportunities or build changes leading to more efficient assembly.
  • Serve both internal and external customers across multiple systems and multiple platforms; each Technician is a valued part of the chain that supports safe human spaceflight.
  • A focus on safety, collaborative teamwork, and quality allows us to work together to determine the best path forward, balancing speed and safety to create high-quality components that will propel future astronauts and payloads into space for the improvement of mankind.
Required Qualifications
  • Familiarity working in an ESD EPA and with tool control/accountability processes.
  • Experience using standard electronics assembly tools, hand soldering and basic electronic test equipment (multimeters and power supplies).
  • Experience with applying torque to fasteners/components.
  • Fabricating, terminating, and repair/testing of wire harnesses.
  • 3 or more years’ experience in Aerospace Avionics or related fields.
  • Experience inspecting and certifying work performed to relevant standards and specifications.
  • Attention to detail and passion for space.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work a 40-hour work week (4x10’s) with occasional overtime to support launch schedules.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Experience with application and removal of polymerics (staking, potting. Encapsulation and conformal coating)
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5-7 years of experience in launch vehicle or propulsion system assembly fabrication, CCA or PCBA repair or component replacement.
  • Experience with energized power/high voltage systems, battery systems or RF assemblies.
  • Certification in and/or knowledge of IPC standards for assembly and inspection.
  • J-STD/J-STD Space, 610, 7711/7721 Rework and 620/620 Space Addendum.
  • Experience and capability to interface with Microsoft Office Suite, electronic work orders and configuration management systems.
  • Experience with documenting non-conformances and carrying out dispositioned repairs.
