Varstaff Staffing is seeking a technician in Kent, Washington, to support Engineering/Production in assembling, repairing, and evaluating electrical and mechanical assemblies for various spaceflight systems. The role requires hands-on proficiency in soldering and assembly wiring while working collaboratively with engineering.
The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of relevant experience in Aerospace Avionics and a strong focus on safety. Responsibilities include building components and providing feedback on manufacturing processes.
Provides hands-on support to Engineering/Production/Manufacturing by performing activities such as test, check-out, modification, fabrication, and assembly of electro/mechanical systems. Applications may include electronic circuits, power distribution, life/vehicle critical safety systems and battery systems. Work is performed from schematics, diagrams, written descriptions, layouts, or defined plans to perform testing, checkout, and trouble-shooting functions. Performs operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment. Assists in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions. Performs work in both Laboratory setting as well as work on manufacturing floor or on vehicle depending on manufacturing needs.
This role is part of the Engines, In-Space Systems and Test Ops group and is in Kent but supports all Business Units and groups across all facilities. As part of a hardworking team of technicians, you will assemble, repair, and evaluate electrical and mechanical assemblies for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of the production, evaluation, and development of Flight-grade Avionics. Work in the Avionics Hardware Lab requires a high level of technical proficiency in work such as soldering, component-level board work, mechanical assembly, and assembly wiring.
Able to lift 50 lbs.
Ability to work a 40-hour work week (4x10’s) with occasional overtime to support launch schedules. Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion. Experience with application and removal of polymerics (staking, potting, encapsulation and conformal coating).
