Job summary

Vast is seeking an Avionics System Test Engineer to support automated testing for satellites and space-station components in Long Beach, CA. The role reports to the Senior Manager, Avionics System Test and is full-time and exempt.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience with hardware test systems, Linux, and HITL tools, plus strong debugging and documentation skills. Strong collaboration across teams is essential for mission milestones.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or other hard science.
• 5+ years of post bachelor’s experience with hardware test systems.
• Experience building and maintaining hardware test systems.
• Experience operating Linux systems and using command line tools.
• Experience with power supplies, electronic loads, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multi-meters.

Responsibilities

• Support hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) test assets for avionics units.
• Capture test design criteria with engineers and system owners.
• Develop and validate test cases on test systems.
• Collaborate on interfaces for HITL applications and co-simulation.
• Procure and integrate test equipment; build and sign-off assets.
• Troubleshoot and debug avionics test systems; lead reviews.
• Mentor junior engineers and coordinate complex projects.
