Job summary

Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer, Electronics Packaging, Avionics Mechanical to design and develop spacecraft avionics hardware from concept through production. You will partner with Electrical Engineering to integrate boards and harnesses into robust mechanical designs, perform analyses, and ensure hardware withstands launch and space conditions.

The role requires 3+ years in mechanical engineering, CAD proficiency, and strong problem-solving.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume.
• Experience with CAD tools and engineering documentation.
• Experience working in cross-functional engineering teams.
• Understanding of mechanical design fundamentals, materials, manufacturing processes, and tolerance analysis.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop spacecraft avionics hardware from concept through production.
• Partner with Electrical Engineering to integrate circuit boards, connectors, harnesses, and electronic assemblies into robust mechanical designs.
• Perform engineering analyses and trade studies to support design decisions.
• Develop hardware that withstands launch, vibration, thermal cycling, radiation, and the space environment.
• Support qualification testing, manufacturing, and hardware troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to identify and retire technical risk.
• Investigate failures and implement design improvements throughout the product lifecycle.
