Job summary

Rocket Lab invites engineering students to an Avionics Engineering Internship at our Long Beach site. You will contribute to the future architecture of avionics, performing hardware development for next-generation electronics across the rocket and executing tests to validate hardware.

The role emphasizes learning, collaboration, and hands-on work in a fast-paced environment. On-site, 12+ weeks, STEM-focused candidates with strong GPA are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a bachelor’s, master’s or doctorate degree program in an engineering, physics or math discipline and have at least one semester of school remaining post internship
  • GPA of 3.0 or above
  • 3+ months of applied engineering experience (internship, laboratory, and personal/team project experience is applicable)
  • GPA of 3.5 or above
  • 6+ months of applied engineering experience (internship, laboratory, and personal/team project experience is applicable)
  • CAD/CAM experience
  • GD&T experience
  • FEA experience
  • Experience with ANSYS, Siemens NX, and Altium
  • Experience designing/building with electrical or electromechanical hardware

Responsibilities

  • Apply knowledge to hardware development tasks under mentor guidance
  • Contribute to test campaigns to validate hardware
  • Collaborate across teams to deliver results
  • Attend frequent 1:1’s with mentors and supervisors
