Job summary

Insight Global is hiring a fully remote Avionics Embedded Systems Software Engineer to support embedded avionics software development. The ideal candidate has 7+ years of embedded software experience in avionics and DO-178 (B/C) compliance.

This is a long-term (12+ month) W2 contract. You must reside in the continental US and be able to work remotely Monday–Friday 9am–3pm EST. Responsibilities include development, analysis, integration, testing, V&V, traceability, and documentation.

Qualifications

Job description

We are HIRING ASAP for FULLY REMOTE AVIONICS EMBEDDED SYSTEMS SOFTWARE ENGINEER to support the software development of embedded avionics systems!

The ideal candidate has over 7 years recent experience in embedded software development & engineering (on embedded systems) within Avionics (working with DO-178 (B/C)).

This is an estimated 12+ month long temporary W2 contract supporting avionics/aerospace engineering. Must reside in the continental US, and able to work remotely (in the US) Monday-Friday within the core hours of 9am-3pm EST.

This person will be responsible for development, analysis, integration, and testing of complex hardware for an aviation system. This project will require scripting and potentially coding in C language for an operating system that is similar to a Linux environment. Experience with aviation protocols is highly preferred. Other responsibilities include validation of high- and low-level requirements, decomposition of requirements, with V&V tasks of systems and software, traceability requirements, test procedures, writing documentation, and the digitization of analogs, etc.

• Must reside in the continental US, and able to work remotely (in the US) Monday-Friday within the core hours of 9am-3pm EST
• Bachelor’s degree or higher required (Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or similar engineering focus)
• Minimum 7 years recent experience in embedded software development engineering (on embedded systems), as well as verification, validation and hardware/software integration.
• Minimum 3 years of recent experience of the above, directly supporting product/systems within the Avionics or Aerospace industry (flight/airborne is ideal)
• Strong recent working experience with DO-178 (B/C) guidelines
• Comfortable with V&V tasks of systems and software, traceability requirements, test procedures, writing documentation, etc.
• C Language coding for an embedded system
• Strong scripting and writing test scripts (Python, etc.)
• Experience with interfaces and digital protocols
• Comfortable with V&V tasks of systems and software, traceability requirements, test procedures, writing documentation, etc.
• Experience with decomposition of high-level requirements, and ability to translate customer requirements into effective software
• Exposure to Aviation Protocols and interfaces (ARINC429,ARINC*25, Discretes, MIL standards, Time sensitive networks (TSN), CAN)

Highly preferred experiences:

• Knowledge of DO178 level A design assurance for certification
• Hands on experience with test equipment (o-scopes power supplies, etc.)
• Specific integration experiences: Software/Software, Hardware/Software, LRU and Systems.
• Familiar with remote data concentration systems
• Familiar with Embedded Linux, FreeRTOS, VxWorks, or Wind River operating systems

This position does NOT require a Secret Clearance, but candidates must be eligible to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
