Job summary

ST Engineering Aerospace in Pensacola, FL is seeking an Avionics Crew Chief to lead daily crew operations and provide hands-on training to the team.

You will supervise technicians, coordinate resources, monitor progress, and maintain high standards of safety and quality to keep aircraft reliable and schedules on track.

Qualifications

  • 4 years of heavy commercial aircraft maintenance experience, heavy maintenance work experience in the Avionics field required.
  • Airframe license and/or repairman certificate preferred.
  • Strong leadership and training skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Provides on-the-job training and technical assistance to personnel in your crew.
  • Evaluates the performance of personnel on your crew and makes recommendations to supervisor.
  • Supervises technicians on your assigned crew and ensures workmanship meets ST Aerospace Mobile, Inc. standards.
  • Keeps tools and equipment in serviceable condition and stored orderly.
  • Completes crew timecards and approves hours worked.
  • Monitors work progress and reports status to supervisor.
  • Assists senior crew chief in evaluating non-routine work cards and corrective action.
  • Participates in shift status and change-over reports.

What YOU will do:

The Crew Chief shall be responsible to his/her Senior Crew Chief / Manager for the overall operation of his/her crew. The Crew Chiefs duties shall be assigned / reassigned by your Senior Crew Chief / Manager. Note: When performing Crew Chief duties as described in this section, the employee is directly supervising the technicians on your assigned crew

In This Role YOU will:
  • Provides on-the- job training and technical assistance to personnel in your crew.
  • Evaluates the performance of personnel on your crew and make recommendations as necessary to your supervisor.
  • Performs only that work authorized by your senior crew chief and ensure that the work is performed to the standards of good workmanship required by ST Aerospace Mobile, Inc.
  • Ensures that all tools and equipment used by your crew are kept in serviceable condition and stored in an orderly manner.
  • Recommends to your supervisor any requirements or improvements for your crew.
  • Exercises control over stock checked out of Stockroom by employees on your crew.
  • Complete your crew timecards and approve all hours worked.
  • Reports to your senior crew chief, with recommendations for any personnel problems that cannot be resolved satisfactorily within the crew.
  • Recommend disciplinary action within your crew.
  • Assists your senior crew chief as requested in the evaluation of non-routine work cards for parts, manhours and span time, and indicate corrective action.
  • Monitors, continuously, work progress.
  • Keeps your supervisor apprised of the status at all times, particularly on jobs that are off schedule.
  • Assists his/her senior crew chief in preparation of the shift status and change-over reports.
  • Perform any work that may be assigned by your senior crew chief.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Good working knowledge of all appropriate mechanical skill levels, through understanding of all FAR’s and company policies and procedures, through knowledge of all aircraft manuals and related materials, knowledge of all maintenance and internal paperwork including all personnel forms and documentation

INTERPERSONAL ENVIORMENT:

A moderate level of interpersonal skills is required to maintain an effective relationship with various departments, co-workers and management.

PHYSICAL ENVIORMENT:

Requires easy mobility around all sections of the facility and the dexterity to install various electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems. Must possess the ability to distinguish colors to perform work adequately. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

  • 4 years of heavy commercial aircraft maintenance experience, heavy maintenance work experience in the Avionics field required
