Mahtomedi Public Schools is seeking AVID tutors for Mahtomedi High School (3 positions) and Middle School (1 position). Pay rate is $18/hr. Tutors support students in meeting high school and college eligibility through AVID strategies.

Ideal candidates hold a high school diploma, know Science/Math/English well, and communicate effectively with students. Training includes up to 16 hours and a year-long commitment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge across Science, Math and English.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with students.
• Attend up to 16 hours of AVID tutor training.
• Commit to a year of tutoring for selected classes.
• Demonstrated leadership and positive role modeling.
• Promotes education excellence and study habits.
• Proficient with email and Google Docs.
• Positive, inclusive communication with students, parents and staff.
• Values diversity in interactions and job functions.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in completing high school and college eligibility requirements.
• Provide academic support for students in rigorous courses.
• Participate in collaborative groups and tutorials.
• Complete 16 hours of AVID tutor training.
• Participate in AVID field trips and motivational activities.
• Facilitate the tutorial learning process and implement AVID methodologies.
• Adhere to district/site policies and procedures.
