Job summary

Alexandria City Public Schools is seeking college-age or college completers to serve as tutors during the school day. Tutors will assist middle or high school students in the AVID elective and Excel classes, fostering inquiry-based learning in small groups of up to six students under the guidance of an AVID teacher. Successful candidates will collaborate with faculty and participate in paid training in September, December, and March.

The position offers an hourly pay rate of $17.24, starting in late September and concluding mid-May, with priority given to applicants who can meet various scheduling needs.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work in a 1:6 ratio or less.
• Willingness to meet the flexibility requirements.
• Completion of training during specified months.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in their learning through inquiry-based tutorials.
• Collaborate with faculty and tutors to build the AVID system.
• Maintain AVID binders and other planning tools.
• Participate in paid training sessions.
• Perform any additional duties as assigned.
