Job summary

Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) is seeking AVID Tutors for the 2026-2027 school year. Tutors facilitate AVID tutorial groups, support inquiry and critical thinking, and provide feedback on student work during the academic day. Regular debrief meetings and ongoing professional learning are included.

Qualifications

• Ability to commit for the entirety of the 2026-2027 school year.
• Organized, responsible, flexible, motivated, professional.
• Positive recommendations around attendance, attitude, and performance.
• Candidates are either currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution or are college graduates.
• Previous AVID tutoring experience and knowledge of AVID tutorology methodologies.
• Experience working with diverse middle school or high school aged youth.
• Experience working with students in a pre-college or college readiness programs.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate small, student-led AVID tutorial groups.
• Model and support development of inquiry and critical thinking skills.
• Evaluate the quality of student thinking by assessing and providing feedback on student work.
• Attend regular tutorial debrief meetings and additional professional learning scheduled throughout the year.
