Alexandria City Public Schools is seeking college-age or college completers to serve as tutors during the school day. Tutors will assist middle or high school students in the AVID elective and Excel classes, fostering inquiry-based learning in small groups of up to six students under the guidance of an AVID teacher. Successful candidates will collaborate with faculty and participate in paid training in September, December, and March.
The position offers an hourly pay rate of $17.24, starting in late September and concluding mid-May, with priority given to applicants who can meet various scheduling needs.
Seeking college-age or college completers as tutors who will work with small groups of middle or high school students during the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) elective and Excel classes during the school day under the supervision of the AVID teacher. Tutors will facilitate inquiry-based support in a 1:6 ratio or less, assist students in their learning, and meet the program’s hours and flexibility requirements.
College students are highly encouraged to apply. Priority will be granted to those who can meet the hours necessary to support the elective class schedule. Former tutors will be retained and placed based on assets and tutor team needs. Scheduled work will begin in late September and conclude mid‑May.
