Job summary

White Bear Lake Area Schools, ISD 624 in Minnesota seeks an AVID Tutor to support grades 6-8 during the school day, assisting in the AVID elective and leading tutorial groups under teacher guidance.

Responsibilities include direct instructional support, modeling study skills, and helping students prepare for college. Tutors work two days per week from September through May.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Current enrollment in college courses or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Must have reliable transportation.

AVID Tutor Position Summary

Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) is a college readiness acceleration system for middle and high school students that supports student preparation for college through an academic elective course that teaches necessary learning skills, reinforces the academic core, and encourages and supports students in rigorous courses. The AVID System annually provides more than 30,000 educators with training and methodologies that develop students' critical thinking, literacy, and math skills across all content areas throughout the entire campus, in what we call School wide AVID.
