Job summary

Independent School District 197 is seeking a part-time AVID Tutor at Two Rivers High School. The role supports students through AVID tutorials, helping them with coursework and organization within the AVID program.

The tutor will facilitate small-group tutorials, maintain AVID binders, and participate in paid tutor training. Hours are up to 9 per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11:00–3:00, with on-site responsibilities during the school day.

Qualifications

• Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
• Post Secondary educational experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate the AVID tutorial learning process.
• Provide academic support for students in AVID.
• Assist students in maintaining AVID binders (calendar, assignment sheets, tutorial request forms).
• Participate actively in collaborative groups and tutorials.
• Complete 16 hours of paid AVID tutor training.
• Support AVID field trips and motivational activities when possible.
• Adhere to district/site policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the elective teacher.

Position: Tutor - AVID

Rate of pay: $18.00 per hour

Hours: Varies, up to 9 hours per week during the school day on Tuesdays and Thursdays (11:00-3:00)

Description Summary: The AVID tutor facilitates the collaborative process as students meet in small groups during tutorials in the AVID elective class. At times, they also provide on-site support for one to one student interaction and assisting elective teachers with binder checks.

Line of Supervision: Reports to the Educational Equity Coordinator

Qualifications:

• Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
• Post Secondary educational experience preferred

Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:

• Facilitate the tutorial learning process and implement AVID methodologies.
• Provides academic support for students in rigorous courses.
• Assists students in maintaining their AVID binders (with calendar, assignment sheets, tutorial request forms).
• Actively participates in collaborative groups and tutorials.
• Participate and successfully complete 16 hours of paid AVID tutor training.
• Participate in AVID field trips and motivational activities (when possible).
• Adhere to district/site policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned by elective teacher.
