Job summary

Leidos, in the United States, seeks a Technical Writer II to join the Technical Manuals Team supporting aviation automation initiatives for the UK NAS-R program. You will focus on updating, revising, and organizing a large documentation library, working with the CM team to ensure strict baseline version control.

You will turn engineering data into clean, compliant manuals using Microsoft Word, applying advanced features to keep massive documents structured and accurate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• 3 to 4 years of professional Technical Writer experience focusing on manuals, library control, or document configuration in federal contracting, defense, or aerospace environments.
• High proficiency with Microsoft Word and the MS Office suite, with history of managing complex, multi-page manuals.
• Solid understanding of baseline control, version tracking, and basic CM workflows.

Responsibilities

• Revise, edit, and format comprehensive technical manuals and maintenance procedures based on engineering inputs.
• Catalog and organize the documentation library, ensuring manuals are searchable, tagged, and up to date.
• Enforce document control protocols, route documents through approvals, manage check-in/check-out, and track version updates.
• Utilize advanced MS Word features (styles, ToCs, cross-references, multi-level numbering) to keep large manuals clean.
• Proofread for formatting consistency, technical clarity, and acronym uniformity.
