Job summary

Saab Aeronautics Indiana LLC in West Lafayette, IN is hiring Installation Assemblers to build the aft fuselage for the T-7A Red Hawk. You will assemble aircraft structures, mentor trainees and help define our state-of-the-art production system. On-site training is provided through our Aerospace installation academy.

Requirements include 2+ years in mechanical assembly, a high school diploma, and the ability to work with precision using hand-tools. ISO/AS9100 familiarity is a plus.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of mechanical assembly or manufacturing experience
• Aeronautics experience a plus
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Technical degree or certification in aviation assembly/mechanics is a plus
• ISO/AS9100 experience a plus
• Interpret engineering drawings and specifications
• Follow standardized procedures for high repeatability
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Responsibilities

• Execute standardized procedures to install systems and finalize fuselage assembly to quality requirements
• Deliver work per quality requirements and instructions in a team-based environment
• Support daily continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost, delivery and morale
• Operate powered hand-tools, including angular drilling
• Perform complex structural assembly like precise installation of aircraft systems, landing gear and harnesses
• Sealant application and surface finish work
• Complete functional and pressure testing of installed systems
• Work with Class A curved surfaces and touch-up painting
• Sign off completed work and supervise others when required
• Support training and transfer of knowledge to new employees
• Contribute to a positive work environment aligned with company values
• Other tasks as assigned
