Job summary

Saab AB in West Lafayette, IN is hiring Installation Assemblers to build the aft fuselage for the U.S. Air Force T-7A Red Hawk trainer. You will assemble aircraft structures, train new team members, and help define our production system.

Paid on-site training is provided through our aerospace installation academy. Requirements include 2+ years in mechanical assembly, a high school degree or equivalent, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant mechanical assembly or manufacturing experience.
• High school degree or equivalent required.
• Technical degree or certification in aviation assembly, mechanics, or aircraft maintenance is a plus.
• Experience in ISO/AS9100 quality standards is a plus.
• Proficiency interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
• Ability to follow standardized procedures for high repeatability in a modern manufacturing environment.
• Excellent communication, collaboration and teamwork skills.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs frequently, up to 50 lbs occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Execute standardized procedures to install systems and perform final assembly on the aircraft fuselage with 100% quality per requirements.
• Deliver work according to quality requirements and instructions in a team-based environment.
• Support daily continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost, delivery and morale.
• Operate powered hand-tools, including angular drilling.
• Perform skilled structural assembly, installation of aircraft systems, landing gear and harnesses with precision.
• Complete functional and pressure testing of installed systems.
• Work with Class A curved surfaces and perform touch-up painting as needed.
• Sign off on completed work and supervise others' work as required.
• Train and transfer knowledge to new employees.
• Contribute to a positive, productive work environment aligned with company values.
• Other tasks as assigned and authorized
