Job summary

Piedmont Airlines within Charlotte, NC is seeking a Flight and Maintenance Safety Intern. You will support the Safety Programs team by processing safety reports, reviewing ASAP/FRMP data, and helping develop safety materials.

This internship offers exposure to all airline safety functions and travel as needed. Ideal candidates are junior/senior undergraduates in safety or aviation, with strong communication skills and familiarity with FARs/OSHA.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of progress toward an undergraduate degree in safety or aviation/ aeronautical science.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Microsoft Office Suite skills.
• Organized, detail oriented, and self-motivated.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, solve problems, and meet deadlines.
• General knowledge of FARs, OSHA regulations, and airline safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist with processing Aviation Safety Reports submitted through the Safety Reporting System.
• Review and assist with investigating reports through ASAP and FRMP.
• Research known or suspected safety concerns and help create presentations.
• Support development of proactive safety solutions, including Safety Bulletins and newsletters.
• Assist in administering and maintaining the FOQA program.
• Participate in LOSA observations and data analysis for SMS.
• Prepare data and reports for Safety Assurance groups.
• Interact with Flight and Maintenance Departments; travel may be required.
• Handle data entry, data analysis, and project development on a daily basis.
