Piedmont Airlines, Inc. is seeking a motivated student to join its Safety Department as an Intern in Charlotte, NC.

You will support the Ground Safety team with safety programs, CFRs/FARs/OSHA compliance, and data visualization, while helping review safety manuals. Ideal candidates are pursuing a degree in safety or aviation, possess strong communication and MS Office skills, and are organized, detail oriented, and capable of multi-tasking in a dynamic office environment.

Qualifications

  • One year of progress towards a degree with a major or minor in safety or aviation/aeronautical science.
  • Excellent communication and Microsoft Office Suite skills required.
  • Organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, ability to multi-task, problem solving skills, and the ability to set and meet deadlines.
  • General knowledge of CFRs, FARs, OSHA regulations and airline safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Involvement in Occupational Safety and Health Programs, including Injury and Illness Prevention; Heat Illness Prevention; Wildfire Smoke Protocol; and OSHA Self-Audits.
  • Assist with review and follow-up of report submissions.
  • Assist in creating data visualizations and reviewing manuals.

This internship will assist in achieving the corporate mission of providing a safe environment for employees and customers. Interns will have the opportunity to learn about and be exposed to each function of an airline safety department. After successfully completing the internship, the intern will have an overall knowledge needed to understand all elements of safety. This intern position is responsible for assisting the Ground Safety team with ensuring safety and compliance throughout the organization.
