Job summary

Piedmont Airlines, Inc. seeks a Flight and Maintenance Safety Intern to support our safety programs and learn how airline safety functions operate. You will assist with data entry, risk reports, and safety analyses across FAA and internal processes, gaining exposure to FOQA, FRMP, ASAP, and SMS activities.

The ideal candidate is a junior or senior undergraduate student with strong communication skills, organization, and a proactive, detail-oriented mindset. Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of progress towards an undergraduate degree in safety or aviation/ aeronautical science.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Microsoft Office Suite skills.
• General knowledge of FARs and OSHA regulations and procedures regarding airline safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist with processing Aviation Safety Reports submitted through the online employee Safety Reporting System.
• Review and assist with investigating reports through ASAP and FRMP.
• Research into known or suspected safety concerns, assisting in creating presentations, and reviewing manuals.
• Provide support for developing proactive safety solutions, including publication of Safety Bulletins and Safety Awareness newsletters.
• Assist in the administration and maintenance of the FOQA program.
• Participate in analysis of LOSA observations.
• Prepare data and reports for review during Safety Assurance groups as part of SMS.
