Job summary

Eckert Seamans’ Washington, D.C. office seeks an Associate with 2–4 years of experience to join its Chambers-ranked Aviation practice, advising U.S. and foreign airlines on regulatory, commercial, and operational matters.

The successful candidate will work closely with seasoned practitioners on matters before federal agencies and in strategic transactions, with strong writing and research skills. Qualified applicants admitted to DC bar or eligible; aviation interest encouraged; generous PTO and

Qualifications

• Two (2) to four (4) years of legal experience at a law firm, government agency, or in‑house legal department.
• Excellent legal research, writing, and communication skills.
• Strong academic credentials and the ability to manage multiple complex matters in a collaborative environment.
• Government or regulatory experience is preferred but not required.
• Admission to practice in the District of Columbia or eligibility to obtain admission promptly; admission in Virginia and/or Maryland is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Aviation practice in advising U.S. and foreign airlines on regulatory, commercial, and operational matters.
• Counsel major air carriers on issues before agencies such as the FAA, DOT, and DHS, and on commercial transactions and compliance.
• Develop writing and research skills in a sophisticated aviation practice in a collaborative environment.
