Job description

The Washington, D.C. office of Eckert Seamans, a national, full-service AmLaw 200 firm, is seeking an Associate with two (2) to four (4) years of experience to join its Chambers-ranked Aviation practice.

The successful candidate will assist the Aviation practice in advising U.S. and foreign airlines, as well as other aviation/transportation clients, on a broad range of regulatory, commercial, and operational matters involving the U.S. aviation industry. Our attorneys counsel major U.S. and international air carriers on issues before the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration, Department of Homeland Security, and other federal agencies, while also providing strategic advice on commercial transactions, compliance, and day‑to‑day operational matters.

Prior aviation experience is not required, although a demonstrated interest in the industry is helpful. We are seeking candidates with strong analytical, research, writing, and client-service skills who are interested in learning and developing their skillset in a sophisticated aviation practice. Experience with a federal agency or in a regulatory practice is a plus, particularly experience involving transportation, administrative law, or other highly regulated industries.

Qualified candidates should possess:

  • Two (2) to four (4) years of legal experience at a law firm, government agency, or in‑house legal department.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Strong academic credentials and the ability to manage multiple complex matters in a collaborative environment.
  • Government or regulatory experience is preferred but not required.
  • Admission to practice in the District of Columbia or eligibility to obtain admission promptly; admission in Virginia and/or Maryland is a plus.

This position offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced practitioners in one of the nation's leading aviation practices, advising clients on cutting‑edge regulatory and commercial issues affecting the global aviation industry.

  • Generous PTO and holiday schedule
  • Paid parental leave
