Job summary

Sinclair College seeks an Adjunct Faculty member to teach Aviation Technology and Unmanned Aerial Systems courses, with compensation at $1,016 per credit hour taught. The role emphasizes delivering department-approved curricula and promoting student success.

Open to residents of Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky, or those able to work in these states. Part-time hires are restricted to approved states for compliance.

Qualifications

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Aviation or a related field or equivalent Tested Experience.
Five years of experience in a field related to the course to be taught or college teaching experience.

Responsibilities

Adjunct faculty teach curriculum developed by the department.
Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning.
Prepare syllabi for all assigned sections in accordance with policies.
Use appropriate teaching methods and instructional technology.
Modify instructional methods to meet diverse student needs.
Support classroom and online efforts to promote student success.
Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner.
Maintain records of student progress and final grade rosters.
Maintain confidentiality of student information.
Adjunct Faculty cannot teach more than 12 credit hours per semester.

Sinclair College offers one of the most comprehensive aviation technology programs in the nation which includes Bachelor of Applied Science degrees in Aviation Technology /Professional Pilot and Unmanned Aerial Systems . Sinclair’s bachelor and associate degrees and technical certificate programs prepare graduates for careers as commercial fixed wing and helicopter pilots, aircraft mechanics, flight attendants, aircraft dispatchers, aviation managers and unmanned aerial systems operators and technicians.

This position is open only to applicants who reside in Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky, or who are able to perform work within one of these states. Sinclair Community College restricts part‑time employment to approved states due to employment, tax, and benefits compliance requirements.

Principal Accountabilities

Adjunct faculty teach curriculum developed by the department
Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize student learning
Prepare and provide syllabi for all assigned sections in accordance with department and divisional policies
Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, use available instructional technology when appropriate
Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student’s needs
Support classroom and online efforts to promote student success
Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner to promote learning
Maintain accurate records of student progress
Submit final grade rosters according to established deadlines
Maintain confidentiality of student information
Adjunct Faculty cannot be assigned to teach more than the maximum of 12 credit hours per semester

Requirements

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Aviation or a related field required, OR must meet the specific requirements associated with Tested Experience.
- Tested Experience Requirements: Associate’s degree in the discipline or a related field preferred. A minimum of a high school diploma required, AND possession of an appropriate industry license, credential, or certification that qualifies the individual to teach the content, PLUS one or more of the following:
Five years of experience working in a field specifically related to the course to be taught and/or college or university teaching in a field specifically related to the course to be taught (as determined by the department chairperson and approved by the division dean), OR
Comparable or widely accepted experience specific to the field of the course to be told

Additional Requirements

Industry experience preferred
Evidence of successful prior teaching experience preferred
Demonstrated commitment to improving student learning through innovative strategies shown to help students succeed at the course and program level
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work successfully in a community college environment
Demonstrated skills in using modern educational technology, including multimedia‑based instruction required
FAA Ratings required for flight instructor applicants: Instrument, Commercial, Certified Flight Instructor ( CFI )
- To be considered, candidates must upload images of both the front and back of their FAA license in the Licensure/Certification section of the application
FAA Ratings preferred for flight instructor applicants: Certified Flight Instructor Instrument ( CFII ), Multi‑engine and Airline Transport Pilot ( ATP )

Official transcripts for all post‑secondary degrees (if applicable) and successful completion of a background check will be required prior to date of hire.
